FAQ

Rethinking Beliefs

We have more questions than we have answers.  As a community of people, we are travelling together toward an improved understanding of our place and responsibility within this world of ours.  We are Rethinking the Story at Central United Church through these different lenses:

What to expect during Sunday Service?

Singing – by the congregation and individuals online

Prayer – as we hold up our joys, sorrows, and concerns

Readings – from many sources including the bible

Listening – to a message related to the readings and current events

Videos – as appropriate to the Sunday and to the topic

Offering – not collected during the service. Instead, an Offering Box is available for donations to support the church at work.

Announcements – which inform us about events in the church and the community

Celebration – as we acknowledge meaningful events in our lives

Socializing – after the service with conversations and occasional refreshments

Hosting / Helping Out

A number of different events occur at Central, and there is always a need for help with hosting, set-up, take-down, clean-up or other.  If you are willing to help out, please contact our Office Administrator (506) 857-3186.

Our vision

The people of Central United Church acknowledge that the lives of countless living species, including human beings, are today threatened with extinction.  We believe that this has resulted, in part, from a fundamental lack of love, respect, protection and recognition of essential diversity for both humanity and nature.

After the Service

Congregational learning events are occasionally offered during or after church on Sunday.

Coffee and Conversation – After the service, on special occasions, the congregation is invited to stay for refreshments at the back of the sanctuary so that everyone has an opportunity to meet new friends and catch up on news.

Cancellations

Severe winter weather sometimes calls for a cancellation. In such an event, cancellation notices will be recorded on our office telephone answering machine (506) 857-3186 and posted on the home page of this website by 9:00am on the Sunday morning in question.
