Outreach: At Home and Abroad
We endeavour to collaborate with others when it comes to Outreach. We believe working together strengthens relationships and builds stronger, more sustainable communities. Central United Church is involved in various outreach programs:
Wednesday Afternoon Drop-In program
Wednesday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at St. Georges Anglican Church
In 2001 two women from Central United began a Wednesday Afternoon Drop-In Program to serve the needs of a number of people in our community who might be living close to the edge. Today the program is co-sponsored and co-coordinated by several downtown churches with assistance from the YMCA Reconnect Street Intervention workers. Volunteers are always required. For more information, please contact (506) 857-3186.
Weekend meal program
Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals who are willing to help with the Saturday morning breakfast program or Sunday afternoon dinner program in collaboration with St. Georges Anglican Church. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Central United Church Office (506) 857-3186.
Food collection for Karing Kitchen and food banks happens periodically during the year.
Several funding appeals are made throughout the year. In 2016, appeals were made for specific national and international disaster areas as well as the following:
